Susan ran up to Nyx after school where Nyx was brand new and asked her if she wanted to be her best friend in 1999. Following many birthday parties, sleepovers, and time spent with family, Nyx and Susan have been best friends since. Nyx was Susan's maid of honor in 2018.
Lauren was asked to show Nyx (the new kid) around school back in 3rd grade. When Nyx sprained her ankle (countless times), on crutches, and needed help with her books, Lauren was always her designated helper. They´ve stayed friends since 1999.
Nyx met Heather in 2018 as a new housemate at grad school. Heather and Nyx would go out salsa dancing, go hiking and exploring together, and cook together at home. Nyx’s favorite qualities of Heather are her open-mindedness, calm presence, and her willingness to listen.
Despite orinally meeting on Bike & Build in 2015, Alicia and Nyx really reconnected in 2020. Nyx posted that she was looking for a job on LinkedIn. Alicia messaged Nyx and told her that she knew her they'd have a reason to reconnect. After working together, the two continue to have coding sessions that inevitably end (or begin) in life catch-up chats.
It´s possible that Austin was disappointed to have a younger sibling when Nyx first arrived, but in high school their relationship drastically improved. One time Austin bet Nyx five dollars she wouldn't eat a spicy salsa. Nyx got Austin to sign a contract that he'd pay her. While she was eating, he threw the contract down the trash compactor. She´s still waiting for those $5.
Nyx met Steven on her second Bike & Build trip in 2015. On the bike trip we often had group nicknames for the people you rode with that day. When Steven and Nyx rode together they named their group "Stevie Nyx", and since then Nyx is maybe the only person who can call Steven, Stevie.
Jenn is Nyx's future sister-in-law (Austin's fiance). Jenn met Nyx & Pablo in the winter of 2019 when we got together with Nyx’s mom in Williamsburg, VA. Since then Nyx & Jenn have built their friendship considerably. Nyx’s favorite qualities of Jenn are her thoughtfulness, kindness, and her persistence to make the world a better place.
Circa 1997, Pablo was learning to ride a bike when he met Adri. "Con ruedecillas chicas" (with training wheels), Adri answered to Pablo's dad when he asked him if he was able to ride. Back in 2004, Adri won Champions League in a Playstation game with Atlético de Madrid thanks to the 'goalkeeper's skill move'. He still has faith that it will happen in real life.
Pablo unsuccessfully tried to teach María how to skip stones in la playa de Velilla when they were around 5 years old. Her determination wound her up learning Medicine in NYC and become a Mets Fan in June 2022. She already knows she wouldn't be a good pitcher.
Ana and Pablo met in Playa Granada in the summer of 2006 and she has taught him two phrases in Catalan ever since: "amb la forquilla torçada" (with a bend fork) and "prou ja!" (stop it!). Pablo has always found Ana's advice and opinions really sincere, mature and valuable though.
Mario used to be kind of a punk, but at some point he decided to dress well and be polite. That happened in 6th grade after he asked 'Seño' Ana María if he could wear skate shoes with his school uniform.
Carlos says he met Pablo and Adri playing soccer in the neighborhood. For some reason, he's the only one who remembers that. Official story: they met in 1st grade.
He made an appereance on a famous TV show and he introduced himself as frutero internacional (international fruitman), so we're just gonna go with that description.
'Nacho' and Pablo met on the first day of kindergarten. Making friends at that age was easy: Pablo's uncle's middle name is Ignacio too, so they talked about that. A few years later, they watched the funniest movie in Valderrubio, a village in Granada where their families are from.
Juanfran—or should I say, Ñeros—had a sweet nickname back in high school. He brought a milkshake to school for lunch every day, and the commercial said "batidos ñam, ñam", which roughly translates to "yum yum milkshakes". Juanfran and Pablo shared a classroom for a whopping 13 years of learning, but most importantly, they honed their sense of humor, thanks to elrellano.com.

There is a parking lot at Cabrillo Beach, however it requires hourly payment and it closes at 10. You may also park on the street for free - be mindful of signs posted by the city. Ubers & Lyfts may be limited; we recommend you schedule rides when using this service. We encourage everyone who is drinking to have a designated driver.
It will be a combination of indoors and outdoors if the weather holds. Weather in San Pedro in June is usually mild in temperature (60s F -low 80s F), and sometimes windy. It rarely rains this time of year (although it's not impossible).
We want all of our guests to be comfortable. Spanish weddings are typically very formal, however being in California, we recognize people may want to be a bit more casual. Cocktail attire will likely be the most comfortable attire we can recommend so you don’t feel too informal or too formal compared to other guests. We encourage women to follow the Spanish tradition of wearing a headpiece (aka fascinator or “tocado”) if you feel so inclined!
For the night of the wedding, we’d recommend staying in San Pedro, Long Beach, Palos Verdes, Torrance or Hermosa Beach. If you’re interested in exploring downtown and you have more time than just the weekend - it may be in your best interest to stay downtown (Santa Monica, Beverly Wilshire, Sunset, etc) to be closer to the sites. We recommend the Double Tree Hilton in San Pedro or for a cheaper option: Best Western in San Pedro.
Para viajar desde España, es necesario solicitar la ESTA. Es un permiso que permite entrar a EE.UU. como turista y puedes pedirlo desde aquí.
Este es un recodaratorio para que compruebes si tu pasaporte está en vigor.
Spain & the U.S. are similar on many cultural levels, but we wanted to highlight the differences we noticed! We hope calling this out will help you feel more comfortable the day of our wedding!
